United Kingdom: common questions
Often not. Many UK universities accept WAEC or NECO English Language at credit level from Nigerian applicants and waive the test entirely — though the grade they accept varies by institution and course, commonly C6 or better and sometimes C5 or above. Where your grade falls short or cannot be verified, a Medium of Instruction letter from your Nigerian university may be accepted instead, mainly at postgraduate level. Some courses still require IELTS, PTE or an approved equivalent, and the university requirement can differ from the visa requirement. We confirm the exact position for your chosen course before you pay for any test.
Some UK applicants are asked to attend a short interview to confirm they are a genuine student. You may be asked why you chose that course, how you will fund your studies and what you plan to do afterwards. Weak answers cause refusals, so interview preparation is included in our visa service.
